IFB #25-0709 Demolition and Removal of Garage

Background
The Clarke County Purchasing Office, representing the Clarke County Government, is seeking competitive sealed bids from qualified firms to demolish and remove a garage located at 140 White Post Road, White Post, VA 22663. This action follows a judgment from the Clarke County Circuit Court mandating the demolition of the garage or the portion violating zoning ordinances by June 20, 2025. If the property owner fails to comply, the County is authorized to proceed with demolition through a contractor.

Work Details
The contractor will provide all necessary equipment, labor, materials, and services to demolish and remove the garage, which has an approximate area of 1644 square feet. The scope includes:

1. Complete removal of the garage structure and all debris within it, including fixtures; walls must be removed down to the footings (the contractor is not responsible for removing footers or concrete floors).

2. The contractor will have salvage rights to materials from the demolition to offset costs.

3. The contractor must assess contents of the garage two days prior to demolition and negotiate ownership of any items left inside.

4. Compliance with all local laws and regulations regarding safety and disposal is required.

Period of Performance
The work is expected to commence no earlier than 30 days after contract award and should be completed within 60 days from that date.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be in good standing with Clarke County and comply with Virginia laws and county ordinances. They must maintain appropriate business licenses and insurance throughout the contract term. A Virginia Contractor’s License is required. Bidders are also required to submit a Certificate of Insurance before work begins.
