IFB 24-25-100 Runway 31 Obstruction Clearance

Background
The City of Danville, Virginia, is issuing this Invitation for Bid (IFB) for the 'Runway 31 Obstruction Removal' project at the Danville Regional Airport. The project aims to enhance safety by removing or topping approximately 230 trees that pose navigational hazards to aircraft approaching Runway 31. This initiative is in collaboration with the Virginia Department of Aviation and follows a comprehensive aerial and ground survey to identify the affected trees.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the removal or topping of approximately 230 trees within a designated area of 5.37 acres on the eastern side of the airfield. The work includes addressing any remediation needs for properties affected by tree work. All debris must be removed unless specified otherwise by property owners. Additionally, backfilling, grading, seeding, and strawing will be performed where necessary. Tree work must comply with U.S. Fish & Wildlife and Virginia Office of Ecological Services guidelines. Operations are scheduled between November 16, 2025, and March 31, 2026.

Period of Performance
The contract will be performed over a period of 120 days from the Notice to Proceed.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be Virginia-licensed contractors with practical knowledge and financial resources to complete the work. No bonds are required for this contract. Bidders must provide evidence of their qualifications and experience in similar projects. Additionally, they should comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding employment practices and safety regulations.
