IFB 160943-Uninterruptible Power Supply Batteries

Background
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is seeking bids from qualified firms to conduct traffic signal battery backup maintenance at 150 locations within the Richmond District. The goal of this contract is to ensure that the Traffic Signal Battery Backup system is fully operational by installing new Clary and Alpha batteries, while also removing and disposing of existing batteries.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks:

1. Furnishing and installing 105 Clary battery packs and 180 Alpha UPS batteries, ensuring proper wiring on the correct circuit to provide 48 volts.

2. Removing and disposing of existing batteries in compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines.

3. Verifying that all new installations are operational before and after installation.

4. Performing work across various counties including Chesterfield, Dinwiddie, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, New Kent, and Prince George.

The contractor must also maintain communication with VDOT and respond to inquiries within the same business day.

Period of Performance
The contract period will commence from the date of award until October 30, 2026. This contract is non-renewable.

Place of Performance
Work will be performed at various locations within the VDOT Richmond District, specifically in Chesterfield, Dinwiddie, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, New Kent, and Prince George counties.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must submit a Small Business Subcontracting Plan (SBSP) if they are not certified as a small business by the Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity (DSBSD) at the time of bid closing. Bidders must also have qualified personnel with knowledge of traffic signal systems and hold necessary licenses for operation.
