IFB 160093 - Mobile RWIS Sensors

Background
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is soliciting bids for the provision of Mobile Road Weather Information System (RWIS) Sensors. This initiative aims to enhance the monitoring of road weather conditions across the state, supporting VDOT's mission to ensure safe and efficient transportation.

Work Details
The contractor is required to furnish Mobile RWIS Sensors and necessary hardware for mounting these sensors on various vehicles, including dump trucks, pickup trucks, and SUVs. The sensors must measure and report critical data such as:

- Dew point temperature
- Air temperature
- Surface temperature
- Surface condition (dry, moist, wet, slushy, snowy, icy)
- Coefficient of friction
- Water/ice layer thickness

The sensors should transmit data via Bluetooth to a VDOT mobile device for further transmission to DTN, LLC, VDOT's weather data provider. The installation must not require alterations to the vehicles (i.e., no drilling). The sensors must be powered by an auxiliary power outlet or trailer light with a voltage requirement of 9-30VDC. All products delivered must be new and current production models.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence upon award and will last for one year with the option to renew for four successive one-year periods.

Place of Performance
The services will be performed statewide across Virginia.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be registered in eVA and comply with all applicable laws. They are required to provide documentation proving at least five years of manufacturing experience for the specified products. Additionally, bidders must ensure that they do not employ unauthorized aliens as per federal regulations.
