IFB 159856 Scrap Metal Recycling Services

Background
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), part of the Commonwealth of Virginia, is seeking qualified firms to provide scrap metal recycling services across multiple locations in the Hampton Roads District.
The goal of this contract is to facilitate the efficient recycling of scrap metal generated by VDOT operations, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Work Details
The contractor will provide scrap metal recycling services which include:
- Providing one (1) 40 cubic yard or smaller container for scrap metal at specified VDOT locations.
- Pickup of scrap metal from VDOT locations within four (4) business days of request, between 7:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Delivery of containers to requested locations within two (2) business days from the time of request.
- Weighing all scrap metal for each delivery or pickup and providing weight certificates showing gross, tare, and net weights.
- Completing a pricing schedule based on the average published price in the American Metal Market (AMM) - Pittsburg indices on the date of delivery and pickup.
- Monthly reporting to VDOT including itemized weights and payment amounts for all pickups or deliveries made during the month.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence upon award and will last for two (2) years, with potential for renewal.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed at various VDOT locations throughout the Hampton Roads District including but not limited to Smithfield AHQ, Surry AHQ, Waverly AHQ, Franklin Residency, Williamsburg Shop, and others as specified in the solicitation.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be registered with the Virginia State Corporation Commission and comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding permits and licenses necessary for performing work under this contract.
Additionally, bidders must maintain appropriate insurance coverage including Workers’ Compensation, Employer’s Liability, Commercial General Liability, and Automobile Liability as specified in the solicitation.
