IFB 1196-25 Lucas Drive Sanitary Sewer Replacement

Background
The Town of Blacksburg, Virginia, is issuing this Invitation for Bid (IFB) for the Lucas Drive Sanitary Sewer Replacement project. The goal of this contract is to replace the existing sanitary sewer infrastructure to improve the town's wastewater management system.

This project is part of the Town's ongoing efforts to maintain and enhance public utilities and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for several key tasks including:
1. Bank clearing and streambed realignment with temporary barriers.
2. Sewer relocation involving a 15” PVC pipe connected to a new manhole, transitioning to a 12” CIP lined pipe.
3. Bypass pumping from Northside Road using a 6” ROMAC Type CB saddle connection to minimize over-the-ground bypass piping.
4. Streambank stabilization and stream crossing construction.
5. Road crossing with pavement repair and surface restoration following construction activities.
6. Compliance with COE/VWP permits for bed and bank disturbance, including monthly reporting and possible inspections by VDEQ.

Period of Performance
The contract period is expected to last approximately 9 months, with 8 months allocated for substantial completion followed by an additional 30 days for final completion.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed within the Town right-of-way along Lucas Drive in Blacksburg, Virginia.
