Fuel Tanks Replacement Project

Background
The Town of Herndon, Virginia, through its Department of Public Works, is soliciting bids for the Fuel Tanks Replacement Project. This project aims to enhance the operational capabilities of the Town Shop facility located at 1479 Sterling Road by replacing outdated fuel storage systems.

The initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards while improving service delivery.

Work Details
The project involves the following key tasks:
1. Closing and abandoning two existing 10,000-gallon underground fuel tanks.
2. Installing two new 12,000-gallon above-ground fuel tanks equipped with fully operational systems.
3. Removing and replacing the existing concrete fuel island while retaining the existing steel columns and canopy.
4. Removing and replacing existing fuel dispensers with new dual hose dispensers.
5. Temporarily removing and reinstalling the fuel management system.

The contractor must plan and schedule work to minimize downtime during the transition from old to new systems.

Period of Performance
The contract duration is set for 90 calendar days from the date of substantial completion.
