DOC-26-007-R- Psychiatric Services at Keen Mountain Correctional Center and Pocahontas State Correctional Center - Direct Provider Contract

Background
The Virginia Department of Corrections is seeking a Psychiatrist or Nurse Practitioner to provide psychiatric services at Keen Mountain Correctional Center and Pocahontas State Correctional Center. The goal of this contract is to ensure the provision of responsible mental health services within the context of maintaining safe and orderly operations in correctional facilities. This aligns with the agency's mission to protect citizens from crime and assist inmates in leading crime-free lives.

Work Details
The Provider will deliver up to 40 hours per week of psychiatric care, which may include both on-site services and telehealth options. Specific responsibilities include:

- Conducting thorough mental health assessments
- Prescribing medications based on clinical need
- Monitoring medication effects
- Providing psychopharmacological treatment for inmates with psychiatric disorders
- Maintaining accurate health records for each inmate
- Consulting with other mental health professionals
- Being available for emergency consultations
- Coordinating care with facility staff.

The Provider must adhere to established treatment guidelines and maintain a professional relationship with other staff members. Services must be documented accurately and invoiced according to hours worked.

Period of Performance
The initial term of the contract will be for one year, with potential renewals as specified in the RFP.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed at Keen Mountain Correctional Center and Pocahontas State Correctional Center in Virginia.

Bidder Requirements
Providers must have a valid license to practice in Virginia, relevant professional certifications, and a completed National Practitioner Data Bank Query form. They must also provide proof of insurance coverage including professional liability insurance with specified limits. Additionally, bidders should demonstrate experience providing similar services and comply with all applicable laws regarding discrimination and workplace conduct.
