DOC-25-042 Physician Services @ Patrick Henry Correctional Unit

Background
The Commonwealth of Virginia, through its Department of Corrections, is seeking proposals for physician services at the Patrick Henry Correctional Unit located in Ridgeway, VA. The goal of this contract is to provide medical care for approximately 100 male inmates, ensuring their health needs are met in compliance with state regulations.

The initial term of the contract will be for one year, with potential for renewal.

Work Details
The selected provider will be responsible for delivering up to 8 hours of physician services per month. Specific duties include:
- Performing physical examinations
- Prescribing medications
- Reviewing X-rays and lab reports
- Maintaining patient medical records
- Adhering to established formularies
- Consulting with the Department’s Office of Health Services as needed
- Making specialist referrals when necessary
- Providing emergency medical services
- Offering employee health services as required.

The provider must also submit monthly accounting of hours worked and prepare invoices for payment based on actual hours worked. Additional responsibilities include providing a monthly schedule in advance and ensuring coverage during absences through approved subcontractors.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence upon award and will last for one year with options for four additional one-year renewals.

Services will be performed at the Patrick Henry Correctional Unit located at 18155 A.L. Philpott Highway, Ridgeway, VA 24148.
