Background
The City of Fairfax, Virginia, is issuing this Invitation for Bid (IFB 76754) for the construction project titled 'Improvements UPC 115545'. The project aims to enhance traffic management and safety by installing a new traffic signal at the intersection of Fairfax Boulevard and Farr Avenue.

Additionally, it involves reconstructing the existing signal at the intersection of Fairfax Boulevard, Warwick Avenue, and McLean Avenue. The goal is to convert the current six-legged intersection into a more efficient four-legged configuration with additional unsignalized right-in, right-out intersections. This federally funded project is subject to compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Work Details
The scope of work includes:
- Installation of a new traffic signal at Fairfax Boulevard and Farr Avenue.
- Reconstruction of the existing traffic signal at Fairfax Boulevard, Warwick Avenue, and McLean Avenue.
- Reconfiguration of the intersection approaches to create a traditional four-legged intersection.
- Installation of a shared-use path along Fairfax Boulevard.
- Construction of curb-and-gutter and sidewalks on each side street within project limits.
- Removal and demolition of existing concrete curb and gutter, fences, sidewalks, drainage structures, storm pipes, and pavement.
- Site clearing, preparation, grading, and miscellaneous demolition.
- Construction of sidewalks and shared-use paths including subgrade and hydraulic cement concrete placement.
- Asphalt pavement placement including subgrade and asphalt concrete layers.
- Installation of PROWAG/ADA-compliant ramps, handrails, and crosswalks for pedestrian accommodations.
- Improvement of storm drainage systems including installation of storm sewer pipes and drainage structures.
- Installation of permanent signage and pavement markings.
- Street landscaping and plantings.
- Installation of conduits and concrete foundations for future street lights.
- Erosion & sediment control measures as required by regulations.

Period of Performance
The contract period will commence upon award with a Full Notice to Proceed issued by the City. Substantial completion is expected within 420 calendar days from the Full Notice to Proceed, with final completion required within 480 days.

The work will be performed at the intersections located in the City of Fairfax, Virginia.
