Bid #RDWY-01-2025, HWY 92 INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS

Background
The HWY 92 Intersection Improvements project is initiated by Mecklenburg County, Virginia, aimed at enhancing the intersection of Hwy 92 at the LYH03 – Bailey Site, which is currently under construction. The project seeks to improve traffic flow and safety in the area, which is significant for local economic development.

Work Details
The scope of work includes improvements to approximately 2,500 linear feet of roadway along Hwy 92 and Butler Farm Road. Key tasks involve:

- Corridor widening
- Entrance and turn lanes along Hwy 92
- Reconstruction of Hwy 92 to address sight distance limitations
- Paving of Butler Farm Road
- Pavement demolition
- Widening, resurfacing, and/or replacement as needed
- Reconstruction of existing stone/gravel roadway with full-depth asphalt pavement
- Drainage improvements
- Clearing and grading
- Erosion and sediment control
- Installation of signage and pavement markings.

The project also includes various construction materials such as asphalt concrete, aggregate base materials, storm sewer pipes, end sections, underdrain systems, erosion control products, and more.

Period of Performance
The anticipated Notice to Proceed date is around June 30, 2025. Substantial Completion is expected no later than November 21, 2025, with Final Completion by April 29, 2026.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed at the intersection of Hwy 92 near Chase City and along Butler Farm Road in Mecklenburg County, Virginia.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be on VDOT's current pre-qualified list at the time of bid opening. A Class A Contractor’s Business License is required for this project. Bids must include a Bid Form and Bid Bond equal to five percent of the total bid price. Additionally, bidders are encouraged to engage minority-owned businesses (MOB), service-disabled veteran-owned businesses (SDVOB), small businesses (SB), women-owned businesses (WOB), and local Mecklenburg businesses as subcontractors.
