Bedford County Solid Waste Transfer Station Tipping Floor Replacement/Resurfacing IFB #2025-33

Background
The Bedford County Department of Public Works is seeking bids for the Solid Waste Transfer Station Tipping Floor Replacement/Resurfacing project. This project aims to enhance the operational efficiency of the Bedford County Waste Management Facility located at 1060 Recycle Road, Bedford, Virginia. The facility serves both residential and commercial customers by providing a transfer building and bulk waste area for solid waste drop-off.

Work Details
The contractor will provide all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary for the turnkey installation of a resurfaced tipping floor and associated site work. The scope includes:

- Turnkey installation of a concrete floor overlay with dimensions of approximately 72’x67’, covering about 4,900 sq. ft. with a minimum thickness of 1.5 inches.
- Removal and replacement of existing damaged concrete and/or steel reinforcement.
- Saw-cutting areas to create clean lines for removal/replacement.
- Preservation of floor drain grates for reuse.
- Preparation of existing surfaces for overlay or repairs.
- Installation of a 100% solids epoxy bonding agent and Met-Top-E or EucoFloor 404 topping as required.
- Installation of control joints and curing compounds as necessary.

All work must be completed within one weekend (from Friday after 4:30 PM to Monday by 5:30 AM) to minimize disruption to operations.

Period of Performance
The work must be completed over one weekend, specifically starting after 4:30 PM on a Friday and finishing by 5:30 AM on the following Monday. The contractor is expected to commence work within six weeks after receiving the Notice to Proceed.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed at the Bedford County Solid Waste facility located at 1060 Recycle Road, Bedford, VA 24523.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must comply with all applicable local ordinances and building codes. They are responsible for obtaining all necessary permits and inspections from Bedford County or State authorities. Additionally, bidders must provide proof of insurance as specified in the solicitation documents.
