Bare Root Planting White Pine SW Virginia Veterans Cemetery

Background
The Virginia Department of Forestry is seeking a contractor with experience in planting bare root White Pine seedlings on State-Owned Lands. This project aims to enhance the landscape of the SW Virginia Veterans Cemetery, fulfilling the agency's mission to maintain and improve state lands for public benefit.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for hand planting 2-0 bare root White Pine seedlings provided by the Department. The planting area covers approximately 43 acres at the SW Virginia Cemetery near Dublin, VA, with a planting density of approximately 435 trees per acre, spaced 10 feet apart.

The area has been chemically site prepared prior to planting. The work must adhere to the Department’s Planting Quality Specifications, which include specific requirements for hole preparation, seedling placement, and maintenance during planting. The contractor must also ensure that seedlings are kept moist and protected from sun exposure during transport and handling. Final payment will be based on the average number of correctly planted seedlings.

Period of Performance
Tree planting may commence on or after February 15, 2025, and must be completed no later than March 31, 2025.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed at the SW Virginia Veterans Cemetery located near Dublin, VA in Pulaski County.
