Background
Virginia Tech, an agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia, is seeking proposals from qualified vendors to supply high-quality, premium specialty proteins for its Dining Services. The goal is to establish a contract through competitive negotiations to provide various types of proteins including seafood, beef, poultry, and wild game. A particular emphasis is placed on sourcing premium beef brisket for 'Smoke', a restaurant located within Perry Place at Hitt Hall on the Blacksburg campus, which specializes in authentic smoked barbecue.

Work Details
The awarded vendor will be responsible for supplying specialty proteins that meet the following specifications:

1. Quality Standards: USDA Choice or higher, fresh (never frozen), ethically sourced, and minimally processed.

2. Volume & Consistency: Ability to meet Virginia Tech’s demand with consistent quality and supply reliability.

3. Packaging & Labeling: Properly labeled packaging with weight, USDA inspection stamp, and supplier details.

4. Delivery Requirements: Scheduled deliveries to Virginia Tech’s designated receiving locations adhering to food safety standards.

Specific items requested include: Salmon (Scottish), Chicken Apple Sausage (various types), Beef Burgers, Ribeye, Striploin no roll, Shrimp (raw white peeled & deveined), and more with specified quantities.

Period of Performance
The term of this contract is for two years with an option for three two-year renewals or as negotiated.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed at Virginia Tech's designated receiving locations in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Bidder Requirements
Vendors must register as a vendor within the eVA system and comply with insurance requirements including Worker's Compensation and General Liability coverage. Additionally, participation of Small, Women-owned and Minority-owned Business (SWAM) is encouraged through partnerships or subcontracting arrangements.
