25-04-3217TP - Restorations-Repairs at Historic Sycamore Tavern

Background
The Hanover County, Virginia, is issuing this Invitation for Bids (IFB) #25-04-3217TP to qualified masonry contractors for restorations and repairs to the foundation of the Historic Sycamore Tavern.

The mission of the Hanover County General Services – Facilities Management Division is to maintain and preserve historical sites, ensuring their structural integrity and historical significance.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide all necessary mobilization, supervision, labor, materials, machinery/equipment, tools, supplies, transportation, and incidentals required for installing a foundation under the Historic Sycamore Tavern.

Specific tasks include:
1. Digging three (3) 2"x2"x16" concrete pads in the west crawl space to support floor joists.
2. Building three (3) 16"x16" brick columns to support the floor joists.
3. Digging a concrete foundation along the length of the west wall.
4. Using restoration-repair materials that match the historical year and color of existing materials, specifically 5.0 NHL secil mortar mixed at a ratio of 2.51:1 by weight and hand-molded bricks from Riverside Brickyard.
5. Compliance with Department of Historical Resources (DHR) preservation practices is mandatory.

Period of Performance
The work must be completed within sixty (60) calendar days from the notice of award.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the Historic Sycamore Tavern located at 17193 Mountain Road, Montpelier, VA 23192.
