Background
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is issuing this Invitation for Bids (IFB #160792) to solicit qualified firms for highway traffic sign maintenance services. The goal of the contract is to provide maintenance on an as-needed basis for traffic signs located on Interstates and Limited Access highways within specific counties and cities in Virginia, including Chesterfield, Henrico, Hanover, Goochland, Powhatan, New Kent, Richmond, and Colonial Heights.
Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for providing all labor, supervision, equipment, tools, supplies, incidental hardware, fuel, transportation of crew and equipment, and traffic control necessary to perform removal, maintenance, repair services and installation of ground-mounted single pole (Type VI) and multi-pole square tube sign post structures. Specific tasks include:
- Replacement, removal or repair of damaged signs.
- Miscellaneous maintenance repairs such as retrofitting and replacement of component parts (bolts, washers, nuts).
- Relocation or new installation of sign panels and posts.
- Installation of new signs at new locations as directed by the VDOT Contract Administrator. VDOT will provide all necessary sign panels; the contractor must supply all other component parts required for the work.
Period of Performance
The contract will commence upon award and will last for one year with options for renewal.
Place of Performance
Work will be performed within the counties of Chesterfield, Henrico, Hanover, Goochland, Powhatan, New Kent and the cities of Richmond and Colonial Heights.
Bidder Requirements
Bidders must submit a Small Business Subcontracting Plan (SBSP) if they are not certified as a small business by the Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity at the time of bid closing. Bidders must also ensure compliance with insurance requirements including Workers’ Compensation coverage and Commercial General Liability insurance. Additionally, bidders must not be debarred from contracting with the Commonwealth of Virginia.
