The Old Spanish Trail Arena Playground/Pickleball Court Project

Background
The Old Spanish Trail Arena Playground/Pickleball Court Project is initiated by Grand County, which aims to develop a master plan for designing, supplying, and constructing pickleball courts and an ADA-compliant playground on an undeveloped portion of land at the Old Spanish Trail Arena property.

This project aligns with the county's mission to enhance recreational facilities and promote community engagement.

Work Details
The project involves three main bids:

1. **Pickleball Courts**:
- Minimum of six post-tension pickleball courts, with a goal of eight.
- Each court will have a 5-inch concrete slab with a turn-down beam and a 1' x 1' thickened edge engineered to hold fence posts.
- Courts will be oriented North-South and each will measure 34' x 64'.
- The surface will be painted with acrylic paint in colors that achieve a LEED Credit score of 3 (Red, Sandstone, & Ice Blue).
- Lighting must comply with Grand County Dark Sky Ordinance #588.
- A perimeter fence of 10 feet around the full court layout and a 4-foot fence separating each court, with individual entrances for each court equipped with latching gates.
- A separate bid price is requested for a shade structure made of powder-coated metal pipe with wind sails over the courts.

2. **Playground**:
- Design and construct an ADA-compliant playground that meets U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Guidelines, aiming for at least 50% compliance.
- Preferred flooring is pour-in-place rubber; other ADA-friendly options are acceptable if they withstand high heat and sandy conditions (no tile or chip proposals).
- The playground theme should reflect Moab wildlife/Wild West aesthetics without modern themes like Arches or Park Ranger motifs. Equipment should appear whimsical rather than brightly colored.
- Color schemes should include nature tones (greens, browns, reds) with some blue in the flooring concept.
- Shade structures should be added where feasible, including swings for older disabled children and wheelchair-accessible options. Main play structures must include wheelchair-friendly ramps and various age-appropriate equipment.

3. **General Contractor**:
- This bid must encompass all elements from both Bid #1 and Bid #2, including necessary concrete work, electrical work, excavation tasks, and overall project management responsibilities.

The contract performance period is expected to commence upon award notification and must adhere to specified deadlines outlined in the solicitation documents.
