Steinway Piano- Notice of Intent to Award Without Engaging in a Standard Procurement Process

Work Requested:
The Granite School District intends to award a contract for the procurement of a Steinway Piano without engaging in a standard procurement process. This notice is not a request for quotes, bids, or proposals. The District is seeking to acquire a specific procurement item, and this notice serves to inform the public of its intent to proceed with a direct award.

Requesting Entity:
This procurement is being issued and conducted by Granite School District.

Background:
In accordance with Utah Code Part 63G-6a Part 8 and Utah Administrative Code R33-108, the District is providing this notice of intent to award without engaging in a standard procurement process. The Utah Procurement Code allows such a purchase if it is determined in writing that:

• There is only one source for the procurement item;
• Transitional costs are a significant consideration.

Contract Requirements:
If there are other qualified vendors who can meet the specifications of this notice, they must provide the following information:

• The name of the contesting vendor and contact person;
• A detailed explanation of the challenge, including documentation showing that there are other competing sources for the procurement item;
• Documentation that the vendor can provide a comparable or better procurement item that meets or exceeds the specifications;
• Documentation that the vendor can also provide the same proprietary procurement item or an equivalent procurement item;
• If transitional costs are identified as the justification for this notice, a cost comparison of the identified transitional costs with the vendor's anticipated transitional costs must be submitted.
