Background
Salt Lake County, through its Aging & Adult Services Division, is seeking proposals from qualified firms to manage and operate the Congregate meal program distributed to thirteen senior centers and the Home Delivered Meals (Meals on Wheels) program. This initiative aims to provide nutritious meals that promote health, independence, and social engagement for older adults aged 60 and above.
The meals will be prepared at the Salt Lake County Government Center South Building Kitchen Site located at 2001 S State Street, Salt Lake City, Utah.
Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for preparing and delivering meals under both the Congregate and Home Delivered Meals programs. This includes:
- Senior Daily Meals that comply with the Dietary Reference Intake (DRI) standards for adults over 60. Each meal must include one-third of daily nutritional requirements.
- Alternative Senior Daily Meals offered upon request, which may include soups, stews, sandwiches, salads, etc., subject to county approval.
- Special Event Senior Meals that meet minimum DRI requirements but are not nutritionally analyzed. These meals should be more elaborate than standard daily meals.
- Timely delivery of Home Delivered Meals between 9 AM to 5 PM directly to participants' residences.
- Adherence to local health codes and dietary guidelines while ensuring food safety and quality.
Period of Performance
The contract will commence on January 19th, 2026, with an initial term of six years and four possible one-year extensions, concluding no later than January 18th, 2036.
