Background
Salt Lake County, through its Arts & Culture Division and Facilities Management, is seeking proposals from qualified firms to conduct a feasibility study for renovations at the Janet Quinney Lawson Capitol Theatre. This theatre has been a central venue for the Salt Lake arts community since its opening in 1913 and is home to Ballet West and Utah Opera. The goal of this contract is to provide planning services and cost estimates for potential upgrades or renovations based on the findings of the feasibility study.
Work Details
The selected Proposer will be responsible for providing professional services that include but are not limited to:
1. Conducting a comprehensive feasibility study that addresses critical areas such as:
- Reconfiguration of seating areas including ADA compliance.
- Renovation of HVAC systems for improved efficiency.
- Enhancements to building envelope heating and cooling.
- Historical ceiling repairs and restoration.
- Rigging systems over the auditorium.
- Options for historic pipe organ usage and marquee restoration.
2. Engaging specialty consultants including an Acoustician, Theatre Consultant, Theatrical Lighting Engineer, and Theatrical Audio/Visual Engineer with relevant experience in similar projects.
3. Deliverables include a final planning document, executive summary, detailed cost estimates, and presentation materials for fundraising purposes. The feasibility study must also consider LEED Gold Certification requirements.
Period of Performance
The contract will be effective upon execution for a term of six (6) years, with the final Feasibility Study due within six months of the effective date.
Place of Performance
The work will primarily take place at the Janet Quinney Lawson Capitol Theatre located at 50 W 200 S, Salt Lake City, UT.
Bidder Requirements
Proposers must demonstrate relevant experience in conducting feasibility studies for performing arts venues.
