New Transportation Building (Bus Garage)

Background
The Iron County School District is seeking competitive proposals for a General Contractor to construct a new Transportation Building (Bus Garage) in Cedar City, Utah. The project aims to enhance the district's transportation facilities and requires contractors to be licensed and certified in Utah. The selected contractor will collaborate closely with the district's Director of Facilities and Naylor Wentworth Lund Architects throughout the construction phase.

Work Details
The work includes preparation of a building pad, installation of new concrete footings, foundations, and slabs on grade. New construction will involve erecting walls, installing finishes, lighting, plumbing, and mechanical systems. Site work encompasses excavation, grading, structural fill, base material at paving areas, site concrete, and utilities.

The structure will consist of cast-in-place concrete floors; footings and foundations; a pre-engineered metal building structure with metal wall/roof panels; steel beams and deck with rigid insulation; flexible sheet roofing; flashings; caulking; hollow metal doors and frames; glazing; finish hardware. Finishes include gypsum drywall, steel studs, insulation, ceramic wall tile, painting, toilet compartments, gym equipment, and identifying devices. Systems include HVAC, plumbing, site utilities, service equipment, lighting, power distribution, and communication systems.

Period of Performance
The project is expected to commence no later than April 1, 2026 and must be completed by June 30, 2027. The Notice to Proceed is anticipated to be issued on February 20, 2026.

Cedar City, Utah.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be licensed as General Contractors in Utah. They are required to submit a Bid Bond or Certified Check for at least 5% of the bid amount. Additionally, bidders must provide proof of insurance coverage including general liability insurance with limits of at least $1 million per occurrence and $3 million aggregate. Contractors must also comply with E-Verify certification requirements for their employees.
