Description
Background
The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is seeking applications for the Workforce Readiness Training for Career and Technical Education (CTE) Students program. This initiative aims to address the identified lack of workforce readiness skills among new entrants to the workforce, which poses challenges in hiring and employee retention.
The program's goal is to create or expand existing training programs in collaboration with Local Education Agencies (LEAs), employers, and community partners to enhance CTE students' workforce readiness skills.
Work Details
The program requires applicants to develop, implement, and support Workforce Readiness Training programs that include:
1) Creating new or expanding existing programs;
2) Engaging local employers to identify necessary workforce readiness skills;
3) Collaborating with LEA stakeholders and community partners;
4) Preparing students for successful entry into occupations;
5) Awarding credentials to students who complete training;
6) Developing curriculum aligned with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
Applicants must demonstrate experience in curriculum development, implementation, and stakeholder collaboration. They must also submit a Program Administration Plan detailing staff qualifications, roles, partnerships with LEAs, and recruitment strategies for CTE students. Performance measures include the number of classes offered, faculty on staff, student enrollment figures, completion rates, proficiency in workforce readiness skills, and credentials awarded.
Period of Performance
The grant period is approximately twenty-four (24) months from the grant start date, with options for renewals or extensions not exceeding five (5) years total.
Place of Performance
The program will be implemented within Texas communities where the nonprofit organizations have a physical presence.
Bidder Requirements
Eligible applicants must be nonprofit organizations with verifiable registration by the Texas Secretary of State. They do not need to be Texas-based but must operate within Texas communities they propose to serve. Each applicant may submit only one application. The maximum funding request per applicant is two million dollars ($2,000,000).
