Wichita Street Widening Project

Background
The Wichita Street Widening Project is initiated by Tarrant County, specifically the Transportation Services Department. The project aims to enhance the existing infrastructure by widening a 2-lane asphalt road to a 5-lane reinforced concrete road section, including the installation of a storm sewer system. This initiative aligns with Tarrant County's mission to improve transportation services and infrastructure for its residents.

Work Details
The project consists of two main parts:

Part I involves widening the existing 2-lane asphalt road section with roadside ditches to a 5-lane reinforced concrete road section with a storm sewer system, reconstructing Wichita Street from IH 20 to Roy C. Brooks Boulevard.

Part IA includes the relocation and adjustment of water and sanitary sewer facilities on Wichita Street, specifically a water line extension from E. Altamesa Boulevard to 400 feet south of Tiffany Meadows Lane to eliminate an Everman deduct meter.

The contractor will be responsible for various construction activities including but not limited to: concrete pavement, lime treated subgrade, channel crossing, sidewalk installation, storm sewer construction, traffic control measures, traffic signals, pavement striping, utility relocations (including various sizes of water pipes and sewer lines), and ensuring compliance with local codes and regulations.

Period of Performance
The contract's performance period will commence upon issuance of the Notice to Proceed by Tarrant County Purchasing Department after contract award. A detailed project schedule must be submitted within one week after contract execution.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed on Wichita Street from IH 20 to Roy C. Brooks Boulevard in Fort Worth, Texas.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must comply with specific insurance requirements including Workers’ Compensation/Employer’s Liability coverage, Commercial General Liability insurance, Auto Liability coverage, Builder’s Risk Coverage, and Umbrella Liability Coverage. Additionally, bidders must submit proof of insurance coverage prior to work commencement and ensure that any subcontractors also meet these insurance requirements.
