Background
The University of Texas at Austin (University) is seeking bids for unarmed security guard services on behalf of the University of Texas at Austin Police Department (UTPD). UTPD, established in 1968, aims to serve and protect the university community, which presents unique challenges typical of a large, nationally recognized institution. Work Details
The Contractor will provide on-site, unarmed, uniformed security services that include:
- controlling access and checking badges;
- removing unauthorized persons;
- providing fire watch;
- escorting visitors;
- assisting law enforcement and emergency services;
- preserving order;
- protecting persons and property;
- performing additional duties as agreed.
Services are required on an 'as needed' basis with a maximum operational requirement of 24 hours per day. Locations include the UT Austin Main Campus and other sites such as the Winedale Historical Complex and McDonald Observatory. Security professionals must maintain a visible presence, deter theft and vandalism, and adhere to safety regulations established by UT Austin.
Period of Performance
The initial contract term is three years with options for three additional one-year renewals upon mutual agreement. The contract will commence upon execution.

Services will primarily be performed at various locations owned or controlled by the University of Texas at Austin within Travis County, Texas, including satellite locations throughout the state.
