RFP 735-2024-4394 Tree Trimming Service

Background
Midwestern State University, located in Wichita Falls, Texas, is seeking proposals for tree trimming services as part of its campus maintenance. The university aims to maintain the health and safety of its trees while enhancing the aesthetic appeal of its 255-acre campus.

This Request for Proposal (RFP) is issued to qualified contractors who can provide comprehensive tree trimming services in accordance with specified guidelines.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks:

1. Lift canopies of trees: For mature trees over 24 feet tall, lift to a minimum height of 12 feet; for smaller trees, lift to half their height. Cedar trees are not to be pruned unless specified.

2. Clean suckers, sprouts, and dead limbs off trunks and main branches up to approximately 12 feet high.

3. Prune all dead branches greater than 2 inches in diameter back to the parent branch regardless of height.

4. Remove and demo certain trees, including grinding stumps to a minimum depth of 12 inches and backfilling with quality soil.

5. Place caution standards in walkways adjacent to work areas as needed.

6. Clean up all debris and blow off sidewalks after completion.

Specific areas include Dillard Area, Hardin Area, Quad Area, Moffett Library, Gates of Hercules, West Campus Annex, Pecan Orchard, and Sikes House (North & South), each with detailed instructions on which trees require trimming or removal.

Period of Performance
The contract period will begin upon issuance of purchase orders by December 31, 2024 at the latest but could start as early as November 15, 2024. All work must be completed by April 30, 2025.

Place of Performance
The services will be performed on the Midwestern State University campus located at Wichita Falls, Texas.
