RFB 2025-035, MKT Trail and Mars Drive Landscaping

Background
The City of Waco, Texas, in collaboration with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), is issuing a Request for Bids (RFB 2025-035) for landscaping projects along MKT Trail and Mars Drive. The goal of this contract is to enhance the aesthetic and functional aspects of these areas through comprehensive landscaping efforts, which include the installation of trees, an irrigation system, sod, and various plantings.

Work Details
The project involves landscaping along MKT Trail from Sherman Street to Gholson Road and along Mars Drive from Hewitt Drive to Texas Central Parkway. Specific tasks include:

1. Installation of numerous trees and an irrigation system along MKT Trail.
2. Installation of trees, an irrigation system, sod, and plantings along Mars Drive.
3. The engineering estimate for the project is $856,680.59.
4. The prime contractor must self-perform at least 30% of the total contract work.
5. A liquidated damage fee of $1,000 per day will be imposed for delays beyond the agreed completion date.

Period of Performance
The work is expected to be completed within 70 working days from the date of the Notice to Proceed. This includes 60 days allocated for MKT Trail and Mars Drive landscaping and an additional 10 days for Add Alternate 1.

Place of Performance
Landscaping will take place along MKT Trail (Sherman Street to Gholson Road) and Mars Drive (Hewitt Drive to Texas Central Parkway) in Waco, Texas.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must comply with specific requirements including:

1. A certified check or bid bond equal to 5% of the bid amount must accompany submissions.
2. The contractor must have a T.B.P.E registration number.
3. Compliance with local procurement laws and regulations is mandatory.
4. The contractor must not be delinquent in taxes owed to the City of Waco.
