Description
Background
The City of Austin, through its Watershed Protection Department, is initiating a pilot project to explore remote sensing water quality software and services. The goal is to enhance data collection and monitoring capabilities for water quality, aligning with the city's mission to protect its watersheds and ensure environmental compliance.
Work Details
The pilot project will focus on the following key areas:
1. Collection of stream water depth and width data to support watershed planning models and biological assessments.
2. Monitoring soil moisture related to riparian health, stormwater control, leaking infrastructure, and regulatory compliance.
3. Addressing water pollution and eutrophication issues that contribute to biological productivity in local streams and reservoirs.
4. Ensuring the preservation of vegetated buffers around Critical Environmental Features for regulatory compliance.
The selected software/services should be capable of compiling public and private remote sensing datasets, securely storing and cleaning data, performing calculations and statistical analyses, generating reports, and providing user-friendly tools for map comparison over time.
Period of Performance
The pilot project is set to begin upon selection of participants, with a response deadline for intent to participate by March 12, 2026.
Place of Performance
The services will be performed within the jurisdiction of the City of Austin, Texas.
Bidder Requirements
Respondents must demonstrate experience in providing compiled and cleaned remote sensing datasets for environmental monitoring for government agencies or similar organizations. They should also provide customer support through various channels (email, chat, phone) during the pilot project.
