Public Art Mural (RFQ)

Background
The City of DeSoto Arts Commission is seeking to commission an artist or artist team to design and produce an original mural to be sited in the Atrium of the Corner Theatre inside DeSoto Town Center located at 207 E Pleasant Run Road.

This initiative aligns with the city's branding initiative, 'So Much To Love,' which aims to celebrate the community's unique character and enhance the visual appeal of public spaces.

Work Details
The selected artist or team will be responsible for designing and producing a mural that covers approximately 918 square feet in the Atrium of the Corner Theatre.

The mural should reflect the theme 'So Much To Love' and create an interpretive experience through visual elements, including representational imagery. Artists are encouraged to engage with the community and incorporate aspects of realism, surrealism, and abstraction into their work.

The project includes developing a final concept design, selecting appropriate materials, attending meetings with stakeholders, obtaining permits, maintaining liability insurance, providing long-term care instructions for the artwork, and documenting colors and custom details.

Period of Performance
The timeline for this project includes a submission deadline of August 30, 2024; notification of short-listed artists by September 15, 2024; contract signing in October 2024; and target installation/dedication by December 2024.

The contract will be performed at the Atrium of the Corner Theatre inside DeSoto Town Center located at 207 E Pleasant Run Road, DeSoto, Texas.
