McNeil Drive Water Transmission Main

Background
The City of Austin is issuing a competitive sealed proposal for the McNeil Drive Water Transmission Main project. This project aims to install approximately 8,500 linear feet of 72-inch water transmission main from the Austin Water – Jollyville Reservoir site to an existing downstream connection point on McNeil Drive near Parmer Lane.

The installation of this water pipeline is critical to eliminate distribution constraints between the Handcox Water Treatment Plant and Martin Hill Reservoir. The project is situated within the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone, necessitating karst monitoring, reporting, and mitigation requirements as outlined in the contract documents.

Work Details
The scope of work includes:
- Installation of approximately 8,500 LF of 72-inch water transmission main.
- Compliance with karst monitoring, reporting, and mitigation requirements due to the project's location in the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone.
- Adherence to safety protocols as specified in the ROCIP Project Safety Manual.
- Contractors must provide insurance costs as part of their bid submissions, which will be withheld from the bid amount to reduce overall costs.
