Harmony School of Innovation Garland - Gymnasium

Background
The Harmony School of Innovation, operated by Harmony Public Schools (HPS), is seeking proposals for the construction of a new gymnasium facility located at 2250 Firewheel Pkwy, Garland, TX 75040. This project aims to provide a state-of-the-art gymnasium that supports the educational mission of HPS by enhancing student physical education and community engagement. The estimated budget for this project is $5.5 million.

Work Details
The scope of work includes the ground-up construction of a 12,000 square foot UIL Gymnasium facility. Key components of the construction include:
- An exterior canopy
- A gymnasium structure with an interior play court
- Changing rooms and restrooms
- Concessions area
- Office space and storage/mechanical areas.

Construction activities will encompass concrete work, drywall installation, glazing, finishes, roofing, electrical systems, mechanical systems, plumbing, landscaping, low voltage systems, and other related work as specified in the project documents.

Period of Performance
The contract is expected to be signed by October 1, 2025, with all construction activities to be completed no later than May 1, 2026. Liquidated damages of $2,000 per day will apply for delays beyond this completion date.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be qualified general contractors with experience in similar projects for schools or governmental entities. They must possess necessary licenses and insurance coverage as detailed in the solicitation documents. Proposers are required to submit proof of insurance coverage including general liability and workers' compensation insurance. Additionally, bidders must provide a letter from a bonding company confirming eligibility for payment and performance bonds.
