Background
The Department of Public Safety (DPS) of the State of Texas is seeking applications from licensed physician facilities to provide pre-employment medical examinations and evaluations for law enforcement candidates.
The goal of this contract is to ensure that candidates meet the necessary health standards required for law enforcement positions.
Work Details
Contractors will provide comprehensive pre-employment physical examinations, including but not limited to:
1. Bloodwork: Comprehensive Metabolic Blood Panel, Drug Screening (Ten-panel), and additional tests for substances such as Buprenorphine, Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, Cocaine, Methadone, Morphine, Methamphetamine, Marijuana, Oxycodone, Tricyclic Antidepressants, and Anabolic Steroids.
2. Chemical Strip Analysis: Urinalysis testing for specific gravity, pH, protein, glucose, ketones, blood, leukocyte esterase, nitrite, bilirubin, and urobilinogen.
3. Vision Screening: Acuity tests for both eyes with and without corrective lenses; field of vision tests; color blindness tests.
4. Audiogram and Electrocardiogram (EKG).
5. X-Rays as needed based on previous injuries.
6. Specialist evaluations (orthopedic and cardiologist) if required based on initial examination results.
7. All services must be performed at the contractor's facility located within a 15-mile radius of DPS Headquarters in Austin.
Period of Performance
The contract will commence upon execution and will remain effective until August 31, 2031.
Place of Performance
Services must be provided at the contractor's facility located within a 15-mile radius of DPS Headquarters at 5805 N. Lamar Blvd., Austin, Texas 78752.
Bidder Requirements
Applicants must possess a valid medical license issued by the Texas Medical Board and have a minimum of three years' experience in providing physical examination services for military or government law enforcement candidates.
They must also provide proof of qualifications for all personnel involved in conducting examinations.
