Background
The United Independent School District (DISTRICT) is seeking proposals from qualified vendors for network infrastructure upgrades, including wireless access points, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), campus core switches, and data center core switches. This project is contingent upon funding approval from the Schools and Libraries (E-rate) Program for Funding Year 2026. All services and products requested are intended to be E-rate eligible unless otherwise specified.
Work Details
The scope of work includes:
1. Wireless Access Point Upgrade:
- Replacement and upgrade of existing wireless access points at seven locations.
- Physical removal of old access points and installation of new ones.
- Connecting Ethernet patch cords and configuring a Link Aggregation Group (LAG).
- Ensuring the new access point is online and communicating with the network controller.
- Labeling each access point physically and in the network controller using the format: CampusName-APXX-RM#.
- Updating the Wi-Fi map in ExtremeXIQ to reflect the new access point's location.
- High-ceiling installations requiring specialized labor and equipment such as scissor lifts.
- The existing Wireless Access Points will be handed over to UISD upon removal.
- A fixed asset report with model number, serial number, and location per campus must be provided.
2. Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Replacement:
- Dismantling and removing all existing UPS equipment at four locations.
- Mounting new UPS and Power Distribution Units (PDUs) into network racks.
- Connecting the UPS to a power source and connecting PDUs to the UPS.
- Configuring the network interface card (NIC) for remote management.
- Verifying network connectivity for monitoring.
- Responsible disposal of old UPS equipment.
- A fixed asset report with model number, serial number, and location per campus must be provided.
Period of Performance
The contract period will commence upon award notification and is expected to adhere to a timeline that includes penalties for delays.
Place of Performance
The work will be performed at various schools within the United Independent School District located in Laredo, Texas.
Bidder Requirements
Vendors must have a valid Service Provider Identification Number (SPIN) from USAC. They must also demonstrate financial stability, have been in business for at least five years, possess high-level partnership status with manufacturers of proposed equipment, and provide certificates of partnership status and engineering qualifications with their bid. Additionally, all on-site personnel must pass background checks conducted by UISD Human Resources.
