ASL Interpreting Services

Background
The Texas School for the Deaf (TSD) is seeking proposals for American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting and video remote interpreting (VRI) services on an as-needed basis. The primary location of services will be at 1102 South Congress Avenue, Austin, TX 78704, with the possibility of scheduling interpreting services at various locations throughout central Austin.

Work Details
The contractor is expected to provide ASL interpreting and VRI services in accordance with the specifications outlined in the RFP. The work must be performed and completed in accordance with best modern practices and the standards of TSD. The contractor must provide staff within 48 standard hours of notice from authorized TSD personnel and must be able to provide staff with the necessary skills to perform various essential functions, including advanced expressive and receptive ASL skills, Certified Deaf Interpreters (CDI), tactile and ProTactile interpreting, online interpreting, and access to Video Remote Interpreting (VRI).

Period of Performance
The initial contract term shall commence on September 1, 2024, and expire on August 31, 2025, with the option for renewal for up to three additional one-year terms. The contract may also be extended for a period not to exceed twelve months with written consent. The termination of the contract can occur by mutual agreement or for convenience or cause with specified notice periods.
