Installation Of Synthetic Turf Fields At Knox County Sportspark

Background
The Procurement Division of Knox County, Tennessee is seeking bids for the installation of synthetic turf fields at Knox County Sports Park. The project aims to convert five existing natural grass ballfields into synthetic turf fields to enhance the recreational facilities available to the community. This initiative aligns with Knox County's commitment to improving public amenities and providing quality sports facilities.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for a turnkey solution that includes:

1. Construction entrances for access to all fields.
2. Excavation to subgrade up to an 8.5” depth, with disposal of excavated materials at a site chosen by the owner without dumping fees.
3. Removal and reattachment of fencing as needed, and disposal of existing bases, home plates, and pitching rubbers.
4. Grading and compacting the subgrade per geotechnical report recommendations, including proof rolling for soft spots.
5. Installation of a concrete curb (12” x 12”) around each field perimeter and EcoNailer board for turf attachment.
6. Installation of a field drainage system including nyoplast catch basins and HDPE storm drainage pipes.
7. Provision and installation of athletic equipment such as base anchors and portable raised turf mounds.
8. Installation of 412,470 square feet of synthetic turf with specific characteristics including color, inlaid markings, and proprietary installation methods.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be properly licensed by the State of Tennessee with a minimum BC classification required for construction projects over $25,000. Additionally, bidders must provide performance and payment bonds equal to 100% of the contract price before receiving a Notice to Proceed.
