The current library, built in 1961, is significantly undersized at 6,845 square feet and serves as the 9th-most used library in the system. The goal is to create a new facility of over 25,000 square feet to better serve the community's needs, particularly in West Nashville, which is underserved in terms of library space.
Work Details
The selected architectural firm will provide comprehensive design services including program verification, site evaluation and planning, development of schematic designs, construction documents, and construction administration. Specific tasks include:
- Program Verification for a facility size between 25,000 to 30,000 gross square feet.
- Site Constraints Analysis/Assessment.
- Development of up to three conceptual design alternatives within existing parcel boundaries.
- Schematic Design and Design Development as needed.
- Attendance and preparation of visuals for up to six community meetings.
- Preparation of a Statement of Probable Cost at various stages (Program, Conceptual, and Schematic).
The awarded firm must be LEED accredited and achieve Gold level certification for the project. Coordination with Metro's vendors for various services such as Building Systems Commissioning and HVAC Test and Balance will also be required.
Period of Performance
The contract duration will extend until project completion; specific timelines for phases will depend on funding availability.
Place of Performance
The project will take place at the Richland Park Branch Library located at 4711 Charlotte Avenue, Nashville, TN.
Bidder Requirements
Bidders must demonstrate experience with similar projects in size and scope. The awarded firm must comply with Tennessee Labor Code regarding workers' compensation insurance. A minimum participation goal of 20% for Small Business Enterprises (SBE) or Service-Disabled Veteran-owned Businesses (SDV) is required. Additionally, all subcontractors must be registered in Metro's iSupplier system prior to the solicitation deadline.
