South Main Street Landscaping Maintenance

Background
The University of South Carolina is seeking quotes for landscaping maintenance services along South Main Street. The goal of this contract is to ensure the grounds are well-maintained throughout the year, enhancing the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the area. This solicitation aims to acquire comprehensive grounds management services, which include all necessary supplies, materials, labor, supervision, tools, and equipment.

Work Details
The contractor will provide complete Grounds Management services on a weekly basis for the South Main Street property for a maximum contractual period of one year starting May 1, 2025. Specific tasks include:

- Conducting landscape maintenance visits: 35 visits during the active growth season (April-November) and 8 visits during the inactive season (December-March).
- Maintaining turf areas at a height between 2 and 3 inches with weekly mowing during the growing season.
- Keeping turfgrass areas weed-free using approved herbicides and hand pulling.
- Performing soil tests in January and applying lime if necessary.
- Ensuring Bermudagrass receives a minimum of 4 lbs. of N/1000 sq.ft. per growing season and Zoysiagrass receives a minimum of 2 lbs. of N/1000 sq.ft., both with slow-release sources.
- Core aerification in June and pest control as needed for turf areas.
- Maintaining plant beds weed-free, edging them, and providing a complete fertility program for ornamental plants, shrubs, and trees.

Period of Performance
The contract will be performed over a one-year period starting from May 1, 2025.

Place of Performance
The services will be performed along South Main Street from Blossom St (US 21) to Pendleton St (S-174), Columbia, SC 29201.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must comply with specific requirements including having an office in South Carolina to qualify for resident contractor preferences. They must also provide documentation regarding their labor costs and commitments to employ individuals domiciled in South Carolina.
