Blight Removal and Demolition-Phase III

Background
Georgetown County, SC is issuing a solicitation for sealed bids for the demolition and removal of various home structures as part of phase three of their blight removal project. The goal is to address blighted properties throughout the county, improving community aesthetics and safety. The Planning Department is overseeing this initiative, which includes an inspection for asbestos and lead-based paint.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for:

1) Clearing the project area, demolishing homes and marked structures, properly disposing of all materials, and grading the project area which may require fill dirt and grass seed straw. Clearing includes shrub and smaller trees (estimated 2” diameter).

2) Demolition must not damage nearby facilities. The contractor will handle disposal fees including landfill tipping fees.

3) Coordination with the County’s Designated Project Manager is required for scheduling work with at least 72 hours advance notice.

4) Obtaining all necessary permits/licenses and complying with local codes.

5) Providing a Certificate of Insurance naming Georgetown County as an additional insured.

6) Ensuring safety for the public and County personnel during operations. The contractor must also have appropriate licenses for asbestos and lead-based paint removal.

Period of Performance
The contract period is expected to commence upon award and will continue until all specified demolition tasks are completed, with specific timelines to be coordinated with the County’s Designated Project Manager.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at various locations throughout Georgetown County, SC as specified in the bid document.
