URI NBC Wireless Fire Alarm Upgrades

Background
The University of Rhode Island (URI) is seeking a contractor to perform wireless fire alarm upgrades at the Narragansett Bay Campus. This initiative is in response to changes mandated by the Town of Narragansett. The existing fire alarm reporting system requires an upgrade to a wireless system that will directly report to the Narragansett Fire Department, while also ensuring notifications are relayed back to the URI Kingston Campus Public Safety.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for upgrading the fire alarm reporting system to a wireless configuration. Specific tasks include:

1. Installation of a wireless fire alarm system that interfaces with both the Narragansett Fire Department and URI Kingston Campus Public Safety.

2. Coordination for unforeseen issues related to fire alarm reporting systems, architectural elements, and electrical/network infrastructure, with allowances set at $20,000, $20,000, and $30,000 respectively.

3. Additional programming and testing as requested, with an allowance of $10,000.

4. Installation of optional items such as the King Fisher Radio Box and the Digitize Muxpad DATA Gathering Module in Herman Sheets Building.

5. Liquidated damages set at $500 per day for delays beyond substantial completion.

Period of Performance
The contract period is expected to begin in February 2025 and last approximately one year. Substantial completion is targeted for September 30, 2025, with final completion by November 30, 2025.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the University of Rhode Island's Narragansett Bay Campus located in Narragansett, Rhode Island.
