RIC HVAC Improvements Murray Center Gym

Background
Rhode Island College is seeking a vendor for HVAC improvements that includes the addition of air-conditioning to the gym at Rhode Island College Murray Center, located at 600 Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence, RI. The goal of this contract is to enhance the facility's climate control systems to improve comfort and usability.

Work Details
The work includes:
- Replacement of the existing HVAC units with two new air handling units connected to dedicated outdoor condensers with architectural screening;
- New and re-used ductwork;
- Modification and re-use of/re-connection to the existing heating system;
- All associated piping, insulation, electrical components, support hardware, and necessary controls integration required to deliver a fully functional installation to the Murray Center.

Additionally, allowances for unforeseen conditions encountered on site for excavation beyond initial BID scope area ($20,000) and cost of planting and landscaping ($10,000) are included. Liquidated damages are set at $250 per day for delays beyond substantial completion.

Period of Performance
Start of construction is immediately upon issuance of Purchase Order. Substantial completion is expected by August 1, 2026, with final completion by August 27, 2026.

The contract will be performed at Rhode Island College Murray Center located at 600 Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence, RI.

Bidder Requirements
Vendors must provide either a bid bond from a surety licensed in Rhode Island or a certified check for five percent (5%) of the vendor’s cost proposal. A payment and performance bond of 100% from a surety licensed in Rhode Island is required prior to issuance of a purchase order. Vendors must also comply with all licensing requirements as per Rhode Island law.
