Rfi-Security Access Control System

Background
The University of Rhode Island (URI) is seeking informational responses from qualified offerors to provide a security access control system.

URI is a large state university with three campuses, 320 buildings, and over 18,000 students and 1,200 faculty and staff. The goal of this RFI is to evaluate access control systems available on the market to replace existing disparate lock management systems on campus, enhancing safety and security for all campus members.

Work Details
The project involves evaluating and implementing a new access control system that integrates with existing employee records systems (People Soft and Workday), student systems (Cbord and Transact, Atrium), and a new video management system (Motorola’s Alta).

The future access control system should be open (non-proprietary), vendor-hosted as a service, and support operational requirements such as mobile credentials and automations. Current systems include over 5,000 Wifi locks (Assa Abloy P2) and over 2,000 radio locks (Allegion AD 400). The new system must also integrate with existing legacy intrusion detection systems for central monitoring at Public Safety.

Period of Performance
The implementation of the new access control system is expected to occur within the next 12 months.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed across URI's three campuses located in Kingston, Narragansett Bay, and West Greenwich, Rhode Island.
