Recycle and Trash collecting Bid

Background
The Town of North Kingstown, Rhode Island, is seeking bids for automated municipal curbside bi-weekly recycling collection and weekly trash collection services.

The Department of Public Works aims to enhance waste management services for residents living in single-family and up to four-plex dwellings. The goal is to provide efficient and environmentally responsible waste disposal while adhering to state regulations.

Work Details
The contractor will provide automated curbside collection of recyclables every other week and weekly trash collection.

The contract is for a five-year period with an option to extend for two additional one-year periods. The contractor must collect materials from designated recycling carts (96-gal or 64-gal) including plastics, metals, glass, and paper/cardboard as per Rhode Island's mixed recycling program.

The service area includes approximately 10,571 eligible households. Collection will occur on designated days starting no earlier than 7:00 a.m. and completed by 6:00 p.m. The contractor must maintain cleanliness during collections and handle customer complaints efficiently. A performance bond of 100% of the contract price is required, along with insurance coverage including $1 million general liability and worker’s compensation.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence on July 1, 2025, and continue through June 30, 2030.

The services will be performed in North Kingstown, Rhode Island.
