Background
The University of Oregon, a public research university located in Eugene, Oregon, is seeking a software development partner for the Prevention Science Institute. The goal of this contract is to create an interactive, gamified learning platform tailored for a research study involving up to 200 middle school student/parent dyads. This platform will not be available for public use and aims to enhance educational engagement through gamification.
Work Details
The contractor will develop a gamified learning platform that delivers educational content through engaging scenarios, avatar-guided experiences, and game-based activities across various devices including tablets, Chromebooks, and MacBooks.
The project will be executed in four phases:
1. Phase 1 (first 6 months): High fidelity mock-ups for 1-2 modules.
2. Phase 2 (second 6 months): High fidelity mock-ups for remaining 2 modules and software development of all 4 modules.
3. Phase 3 (to be completed by September 2027): Robust quality assurance and platform delivery.
4. Phase 4 (post-completion): Maintenance contract.
The platform will feature an avatar system, simple interactive activities, complex scenario-based challenges, a scoring system based on health and emotional metrics, and theme-based storytelling to enhance learning retention.
Period of Performance
The contract period spans from the initial development phase starting in June 2026 through to the completion of the project by September 2027, followed by a maintenance phase.
Place of Performance
The services will be performed primarily at the University of Oregon's facilities in Eugene, Oregon; however, the software must be operable on devices used by participants regardless of their location.
