Healthy Oregon Workforce Training Opportunity (HOWTO) Grant Program - Round 6

Background
The State of Oregon is dedicated to developing a health care workforce that meets the diverse needs of all Oregonians.
The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) and Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) have allocated approximately $9 million for the 2023-25 biennium to support the Healthy Oregon Workforce Training Opportunity Grant Program (HOWTO).
This initiative aims to address health care workforce shortages, particularly in culturally and linguistically diverse groups, economically marginalized communities, tribal areas, rural regions, and other communities facing inequities.
The program encourages innovative, community-based training initiatives to enhance workforce diversity.

Work Details
The HOWTO Grant Program seeks proposals that:
1. Support greater ethnic, racial, cultural, and linguistic diversity in Oregon’s health care workforce.
2. Advance trauma-informed care in workforce training programs.
3. Address health inequities and social determinants of health.
4. Expand or develop new health professional training in local areas.

Proposals may request funding for up to 3 years with a maximum of $1 million per project.
Projects must be new or expansions distinct from previous HOWTO projects and cannot use funds for capital construction costs or maintenance of existing activities.

Period of Performance
The grant period spans from the announcement on September 23, 2024, with proposals due by December 16, 2024.
Evaluation will occur from December 17, 2024, to February 28, 2025, with notifications sent by March 7, 2025.
The new grant cycle begins on June 16, 2025.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed within the State of Oregon.
