The Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Student Success Plan was developed at the direction of the Legislature to develop and implement strategies to address historic and current systemic inequities experienced by Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander students through focused investments and partnerships with community-based organizations, school districts, Tribal governments, education service districts, early learning providers, and post-secondary institutions.
Background
The Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Student Success Plan was developed at the direction of the Legislature to address historic and current systemic inequities experienced by Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander students through focused investments and partnerships with community-based organizations, school districts, Tribal governments, education service districts, early learning providers, and post-secondary institutions.

Work Details
The 2024-2028 Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Student Success Grants are being made available to early learning hubs, providers of early learning services, school districts, education service districts, public charter schools, post-secondary institutions of education, Tribal governments, or community-based organizations. The grants aim to support efforts utilizing the strategies outlined in the Plan to address issues such as attendance; chronic absenteeism; early childhood to elementary, middle to high school, and high school to post-secondary transitions; and will include a variety of supports including the involvement of parents and communities across the state in order to assist Plan students to develop a range of knowledge, skills, abilities, and dispositions that will lead to successful student outcomes in educational achievement.

Period of Performance
Each Grant is expected to have an initial term of one year, running from October 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, with the possibility of renewal for up to three years. Initial funding for each Grant will cover the 2024-2025 fiscal year and must be utilized by June 30, 2025. However, funding for the subsequent fiscal years may differ from the initial award amount and is contingent upon legislative appropriation and evaluation of the prior year's Grant project implementation.

The geographic location(s) where the grant activities will be performed include early learning hubs, school districts, education service districts, public charter schools, post-secondary institutions of education, Tribal governments or community-based organizations in Oregon.
