Background
The City of Cincinnati is seeking bids from qualified contractors to provide telecommunication cabling services at various City facilities. This contract aims to enhance the communication infrastructure by installing low voltage cabling for voice, data, video, and security systems. The work will be performed in accordance with the National Electrical Code and other relevant standards.
Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for providing all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to install, test, and certify low voltage cabling for indoor communications systems. This includes:
- Voice (telephone) cabling
- Data (network Ethernet) cabling
- Video (CCTV, AV) installations
- Access control/security systems
- Wireless access points installation.
All installations must comply with applicable codes and standards including NEC, TIA/EIA standards, BICSI guidelines, and City of Cincinnati Building and Fire Codes. The contractor must submit manufacturer specifications, cabling diagrams, labeling schemes, test reports, and warranty documentation for approval prior to installation. The materials used must include Category 6A UTP cable as a minimum for data applications and plenum-rated cable where required by code. The installation process must ensure neatness and compliance with specified testing protocols.
Period of Performance
The contract period begins on the effective start date of the contract and extends until the last day of the month three years after that date.
Place of Performance
Work will be conducted at various City facilities within Cincinnati.
Bidder Requirements
Bidders must comply with M/WBE subcontracting inclusion goals of 2% MBE and 2% WBE as per Cincinnati Municipal Code Chapter 324. They are required to verify that any proposed subcontractors are not debarred from contracting with the City. Additionally, bidders must provide proof of insurance including Workers' Compensation and General Liability coverage as specified in the solicitation documents.
