Description
Background
The Southerly Tunnel Dewatering Pump Station (STDPS) will be located in the Village of Cuyahoga Heights at the southern end of the Southerly Storage Tunnel. The Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD) is responsible for this project, which aims to protect public health and the environment through effective wastewater and stormwater management. The STDPS will help meet specific combined sewer overflow control requirements as identified in the Consent Decree. The project has an estimated construction cost of $71,000,000.
Work Details
The work includes: constructing a submersible pump station with a nominal capacity of 54 MGD, completing the build-out of a mining shaft into a wet well, constructing an at-grade support building containing operational facilities, and connecting the pump station's discharge to an existing flow drop structure.
Additionally, three remote flow drop sites will be outfitted with isolation gates and necessary equipment. Internal improvements will be made to existing structures related to previous projects by removing flume pipes and bulkheads, raising weir walls, adjusting or installing weir plates and orifice plates, and placing concrete in-fill. The project will also involve commissioning the Southerly Storage Tunnel System and ensuring it is fully functional upon turnover to NEORSD.
Period of Performance
The project timeline includes a bid publish date of April 7, 2026, a pre-bid meeting on April 22, 2026, a question submission deadline on May 21, 2026, and a bid opening on June 2, 2026.
Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the Southerly Tunnel Dewatering Pump Station located at 4660 East 49th Street in Cuyahoga Heights, Ohio.
Bidder Requirements
Bidders must comply with NEORSD's policies regarding small business enterprises (SBE), with a goal of 20% participation for this contract. They are required to submit a Bid Guaranty in the form of either a bond or certified check.
