Pickup And Disposal Of Medical Waste

Background
The City of Cincinnati's Office of Procurement is issuing this Invitation to Bid (ITB) for the pickup and disposal of medical waste. The goal of this contract is to ensure safe and compliant handling of medical waste generated by various city departments, including the Health Department, Police Department, and Fire Department. The contractor will be responsible for providing necessary containers and services to meet the city's requirements.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide the following services:

1) Delivery of special containers marked with 'Contaminated/Infectious' waste symbol;

2) Supply plastic bags that exceed dart impact resistance standards;

3) Pickup and incineration or autoclaving of boxes and contents as scheduled (weekly or as needed);

4) Total estimated quantity for Health Department locations is 450 containers (mix of 28-gallon and 38-gallon containers, as well as 30-gallon boxes);

5) Pickup points include various health centers, WIC locations, Employee Health Services, Police Department, and Fire Department with specific estimated quantities per month.

The contractor must comply with Ohio EPA approved treatment methods and ensure all medical waste containers are properly marked according to regulations.

Period of Performance
The contract period will begin on the effective start date and end twelve months later. There is an option for two additional twelve-month renewal periods at the sole discretion of the City.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed at various locations throughout Cincinnati, Ohio, including health centers, police stations, fire stations, and other city departments.
