Background
The Ohio State University Outpatient Pharmacy – Ackerman is initiating a strategic effort to modernize and optimize its pharmacy shipping and logistics operations. This initiative is driven by increasing outpatient prescription volumes, the expansion of home delivery services, and heightened patient expectations for timely and transparent medication delivery.
The goal of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to identify and implement a shipping, tracking, and performance logistics software solution that meets the operational and compliance needs of Ohio State.
Work Details
The selected vendor will be required to deliver an integrated, end-to-end pharmacy shipping logistics platform that addresses the following needs:
1. Centralize and automate carrier rate shopping and manifest creation.
2. Enhance real-time tracking and provide immediate access to proof of delivery.
3. Proactively identify and mitigate at-risk shipments before they impact patients.
4. Strengthen audit readiness through long-term compliant storage of delivery records.
5. Provide analytics and performance dashboards to guide operational improvements.
6. Seamlessly integrate with existing core pharmacy platforms including EPIC and Nexia to streamline workflows.
Period of Performance
The contract will commence upon award with specific timelines for implementation to be determined during the contracting process.
