General Auction Services Surplus: Vehicles (CITY AND IMPOUND), Equipment And Miscellaneous Items

Background
The City of Canton, Ohio is seeking proposals from qualified auction companies to provide general auction services for the sale of surplus vehicles (both impound and city-owned), equipment, furniture, and miscellaneous items.

The goal is to efficiently manage the disposition of approximately 10 to 25 city vehicles annually, along with various equipment and over 500 impounded vehicles that are no longer needed for municipal purposes. This initiative aims to maximize revenue through effective marketing and sales strategies.

Work Details
The contractor will provide comprehensive auction services including:
- Conducting live and online public auctions for surplus and impound property, which includes vehicles, furniture, electronics, outdoor equipment, tools, and heavy equipment.
- Providing appraisal and consulting services to ensure maximum receipts from auctioned items.
- Marketing vehicles effectively to reach specialty markets for items such as fire trucks and large municipal vehicles.
- Managing all aspects of the auction process including cataloging, advertising, and conducting the auctions with adequate staffing.
- Ensuring proper documentation including detailed reconciliation of items sold and timely payment remittance to the City.
- Assigning a dedicated account manager for communication with the City regarding schedules and contractual matters.
- Collecting full payment from buyers and preparing necessary legal documents post-sale.

Period of Performance
The contract is anticipated to last for three years with an option to renew annually if mutually agreed upon. The contract will commence on the date of the Auditor’s certification of funds.

Place of Performance
The majority of auction items will be located at the City Service Center at 2436 30th St. NE, Canton, OH 44705; however, items may also be sold from various City properties.
