Fairwood/ Sprinkler System Service

Background
The City of Columbus, specifically the Sewers and Drains Division, is seeking to establish an Indefinite Quantity Agreement for fire protection system inspection, testing, and repair services at 1250 Fairwood Ave, Columbus, Ohio 43206. The estimated budget for this agreement is $13,000.00. This contract aims to ensure the safety and compliance of fire protection systems within the city’s infrastructure.

Work Details
The contractor will provide inspection, testing, and repair services for the following fire safety systems:
- 11 wet sprinkler systems
- 5 hydrants
- 2 Fire Cycle II systems
- 1 dry system.

Inspections will occur quarterly and include:
- Operating all control valves
- Lubricating O S & Y valve and hydrant caps
- Performing main drain tests on each system
- Testing alarm devices and antifreeze
- Testing water motor gongs
- Inspecting and lubricating the fire department connection
- Flushing and pumping hydrants in spring
- Checking hydrants for water in fall

A report detailing deficiencies and recommendations for corrective action must be submitted after each inspection. If repairs are needed, an estimate must be provided. All inspections must meet or exceed state and local fire codes and NFPA standards.

Period of Performance
The contract will be effective until February 28, 2026. Any unspent funds from purchase orders will be canceled after this date.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must ensure that all inspectors are board certified. Specific bidding instructions include providing costs for various services such as quarterly inspections, internal sprinkler pipe inspections per NFPA code, hourly rates, overtime rates, Sunday/Holiday rates, truck or trip charges, parts markup percentage, and any miscellaneous charges.
